Cold Steels Kobun is a lightweight Tanto styled boot knife. It takes its namesake from the Japanese martial, or underworld where the word "Kobun" means "soldier". Like Cold Steels Tantos, it features the Tanto styled reinforced point. This contrasts sharply with most boot knives on the market today which are notorious for their paper thin points which are easily broken or bent. In contrast, the Kobuns point is highly resistant to bending or breaking because it is reinforced by the full thickness of the blades spine which runs almost to the very tip of the blade. I wanted a cheap knife to do as a side by side on a couple quality knives I am going to be reviewing soon but this was not the knife pictured when I bought it off eBay, a double edged knife is illegal in Canada so I went out and snapped the blade and tossed it in the dumpster while the file was loading on YouTube. The blade snapped easily when I propped it on an angle on the curb and stomped it with my work boot, if you are looking for a cheap small bladed knife I would not at all recommend this.
